Holidays in Costa Rica
Thanksgiving with students from ILE.
The end of our first term of language learning in Costa Rica is in sight! This is our last week of classes, and next week we have our entrevistas finales. It has been a lot. We are grateful for the progress and for the little breaks along the way, but we are definitely looking forward to a longer rest over the holidays.
We knew this season would be challenging as we would be missing time with family and friends. Our landlord surprised us with a Christmas tree and decorations, which allowed us to enjoy some of our regular family traditions. We love Christmas time as a family!
We were also honored to host Thanksgiving in our home with other language students. Everyone brought a part of the meal, and we ended up with the full Thanksgiving spread! It brought a welcome sense of “normalcy” to this time of year.
After our finales, we’ll have a good break from school. As part of our visa requirements, we will travel to Panama, which will also give us the chance to visit our WoL friends. And for Christmas, we told the kids we would do a fun family trip here in Costa Rica.
Thank you again for all your prayers, support, and encouragement! These first couple of months have been both stretching and rewarding as God continues to use this season to grow and prepare us for future ministry. And you are a part of this WITH us!
